It is perhaps the most contradictory of the neighborhoods of Turin today.
The “Barrier” was founded in 1853 with the first customs fence to control goods entering the city, separating the countryside from the urbanized part. The most northern gate of the city walls was Piazza Crispi, along the then Royal Italian road, now Corso Vercelli, toward the Lombard capital.

Over time it has suffered the real estate market slowdown and the consequent paralysis of the processes of urban transformation. Meanwhile, it has become the place where a new international and multi-ethnic Turin was born, thanks to the accessibility of prices, the quality of services, and innovative initiatives such as the Fico Foundation, EDIT, and the social enterprise incubator at the former INCET. New urban centers arise alongside consolidated underground presences such as Spazio 211 and Docks Dora. The completion of the new Metro Line 2 and new roads will accelerate this revolution. A district with great potential that could soon become one of the new attractions of Turin.
